VINEYARD AND ELABORATION
DESCRIPTION: Within the municipality of Pesquera de Duero, facing south at an altitude of more than 800 meters.
WEATHER: The year 2018 began with a cold winter, characteristic of the Ribera del Duero, in which minimum temperatures of -12 ºC were reached. Temperatures remained low during the beginning of spring, despite these conditions, budding occurred within the usual dates, at the end of April. After a very dry 2017, the rain made its appearance at the end of winter and continued continuously during spring, the amounts collected were very abundant, with 2018 being classified as very wet in the area. The vegetative development of the plants was favored by the temperature regime and water reserves, which also caused a considerable increase in the size of the berries. As a consequence of this increase in the size of the grapes and despite the fact that the temperatures during the months of September and October were warmer than usual, maturation was delayed. The harvest lasted until the end of October, giving an exceptional production, both in quantity and quality. The absence of rains in the final stages of the cycle also ensured the sanitary quality of the harvest. It is worth mentioning that the harvest of the year 2018 was the second in quantity, only surpassed by that of the year 2016.
HARVEST: The harvest was healthy and of exceptional quality.
AGEING: Minimum 14 months in 225-litre American oak barrels and rest in the bottle before being put on the market.
